Legal Profile

Objective:

This session will address legal issues for children living in families affected by drug use, family violence, parental mental health issues, unsupported teen parents, and families headed by grandparents or other relatives. This topic will present through a distance learning activity with synchronous lecture and slides broadcast over the Internet, handouts, discussion, and role-playing to continue development of an Individualized Family Services Plan or Family Service Delivery Plan incorporating legal perspectives. Optional topics include introduction to preliminary research on the handling of reports of child abuse and neglect and identifying additional community agencies for legal and child protection collaboration.

Learning issues:

At the end of the session, the learners will receive an introduction to legal issues as they relate to children living in families affected by drug use, family violence, parental mental health issues, unsupported teen parents, and families headed by grandparents or other relatives. At the end of the session, the learners will understand how clinical teams can address some of the legal issues affecting families. At the end of the session, the learners will understand the issues determining community collaboration around legal issues for families.

He was honored for leadership in the advancement of clinical legal education, tireless promotion of multidisciplinary collaborations, pioneering work on technology in clinics and dedication to students and social justice.
