Clinic Profile

Objective:

This session will present medical and child development issues for infants with neonatal jaundice. This presentation will include a distance learning activity with synchronous lecture and slides broadcast over the Internet, handouts, and discussion. Optional topics might include infant massage, passage of drugs into breast milk, and expectations for well childcare.

Learning issues: 

At the end of the session, the learners will understand the potential neuromotor sequelae of neonatal jaundice leading to kernicterus and the neuromotor abnormalities seen with prenatal marijuana exposure.

At the end of the session, the learners will understand the potential neurobehavioral sequelae for newborns with prenatal exposure to drugs including alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and opiate drugs.

At the end of the session, the learners will receive an introduction to the neuromotor and neurobehavioral sequelae for newborns with prenatal exposure to other drugs including alcohol, cocaine, methamphetamine, and opiate drugs.

At the end of the session, the learners will have an introduction to developmental interventions for newborns with prenatal exposure to drugs including alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and opiate drugs.
