Welcome to the A STEP Curriculum online web course.

UNITE brochureThe course is presented by Las Clinicas del Norte and the Project UNITE faculty.

What you can expect from this online course:
This curriculum is a web-based distance education course designed for services providers working with families affected by alcohol and substance use. The cases used in this curriculum will reflect real life issues that are of concern to clinical staff. Through these fictional cases, participants will discuss the delivery of appropriate services, alternative perspectives on the issues faced by the families in the cases, and interdisciplinary team approaches to working with families.

The A STEP Curriculum modules will follow the tutorial based curriculum structure of the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Participants in this curriculum will start with a brief fictional case, relate their work with families to the case, identify concerns or problems they’ve encountered in working with families, pose questions, access resources provided on the web site and the A STEP faculty through discussion links provided, and reconvene to summarize and resolve the issues in the cases. While each module has specific faculty members identified as primary facilitators, all faculty will participate in the discussions and contribute their expertise. All faculty members will meet with the participants through the links found in the Virtual Conference Center.

Up to 18 CME credits may be earned for participating in the curriculum. Completion of each module and its evaluation will allow participants to earn 2 credits.

The objectives for the course include:

What is expected of participants in this online course:
Participants who wish to earn CME credits will access the Project UNITE web page, go to the Virtual Conference Center, and log onto the modules. From the modules, participants will be directed to the appropriate links to make responses to questions associated with the modules and to post questions for faculty and other participants. Evaluations of each module will be completed by all participants to guide further professional development activities. Links will be provided to access additional resources for the case studies.
